Winter coat

I was aiming for

but in scarlet wool (like those expensive, very smart ones well off little girls used to wear to walk in the park with Nanny!)

However, I missed and got this instead

which on reflection, I like much better! I hated it whilst I was making it, was qutie certain it was going to turn out vile but now we are done I’m happy, she’s happy and I am reconciled to it being the right pattern for the fabric. There are some glaring errors in it, one of the toggle loops is off and the lining isn’t quite right in places but it’s soft (well, okay, that’s down to it soaking overnight in a very luxurious fabric softener bath…), it should be showerproof (also down to that long soak) and it feels pretty warm.

Just need to get the purple dye for my bog coat now and we are both sorted for the winter!

It’s gorgeous! Your description doesn’t do it justice so I’m glad you’ve blogged a photo. It looks pretty smart to me, in a little girl rather than posh little girl way. I love the lining fabric too.
